Kicking off their month-long IFI20 celebrations, Saturday 1 September, 2012, moviegoers took a trip down memory lane back to the 90s with Irish Film Institute 1992 Day! The IFI was delighted to welcome Jeremy Irons and Sinéad Cusack who partnered in Waterland, the very first film publicly screened at the IFI in its new home in Temple Bar.
Screening as part of 20/20 Legacy Films season, Waterland was followed by the post-screening Q&A with Jeremy and Sinead and hosted by writer and film critic, Paul Lynch.

In March 2012, Friends of BAM were invited to join Friends of BAM Chairs Sinead Cusack and Jeremy Irons for a special screening of their 1988 film Stealing Beauty. This coming of age story explores the relationships of Lucy, an American teenager visiting Tuscany, and the eccentric residents she encounters, including Irons as a dying playwright and Cusack as one of her hosts. The couple recounted their experience of making the film in an exclusive introduction to the audience.

Jeremy Irons was in St. Moritz recently to ski and to attend the Gunter Sachs Memorial Service, St.Moritz, Switzerland – 24 Feb 2012 – at the Dracula Club in the Hotel Waldhaus Am See.

They had the ease of a couple who have been friends for years as they strolled around St Moritz arm-in-arm.
Actor Jeremy Irons and writer Maryam Sachs were seen taking in the scenery in the Swiss ski resort last week, looking thrilled to be in each others’ company.
The pair walked along in the resort, looking in the shop windows, as they headed back after a long day of skiing.
Old friends: Jeremy Irons was seen strolling around the Swiss ski resort of St Moritz with Maryam Sachs last weekJeremy, 63, looked typically eccentric in his cord trousers, red jumper, leather gilet and grey hat, teamed with a red scarf and black boots.
Meanwhile, Iran-born Maryam wore a fur-trimmed hat, fringed jacket and leggings, accessorised with a pair of knee-high boots.
Jeremy, who is happily married to Irish actress Sinead Cusack, has been out of the spotlight in recent months, but will be returning to his acting roots in the two television movies Henry IV, Part I and Part II later this year.
It’s been a long day: Jeremy carried his skis and ski poles as he headed back after a full day of skiing.

Confirming the cast earlier this year, Pippa Harris, Executive Producer, Neal Street Productions, said: We are delighted to confirm Jeremy Irons and Tom Hiddleston as our remaining Kings who, along with Ben Whishaw as Richard II, are leading a phenomenally talented ensemble of cast and crew.
‘With the support of NBC Universal and the BBC, we have been able to bring a new scale to the films never before attempted for television.’
The television films will be aired as part of BBC Two’s Shakespeare season later this year.

Jeremy Irons Interviewed for Hungarian TV
Jeremy Irons was interviewed by Nava Aniko at Korda Studios in Etyek, Hungary, recently. The 40-minute interview will be broadcast on Hungarian TV on 22 December at 20:10.

In the interview, Jeremy not only spoke about movies and Hollywood, but about his worldview. He does not consider himself a politician and he does not believe in the death penalty. Jeremy also tells his view of how Budapest has changed over the years.
Also in the interview:
– he’s not into politics, and doesn’t believe in any kind of ‘-ism’
– he doesn’t attend services at the Anglican church – “my wife and kids are Catholics”
– Doesn’t believe in death penalty – “because it doesn’t stop criminality”
– why he believes in love – “God is love, and it means to me that love is the answer for everything”
– what he thinks about power, money and fame – “it means more people know me than how many I know”
– what’s his advice to his son Max – “go until you find what makes you happy”
The British actor starred in Istvan Szabo’s Being Julia in 2004, which was filmed partly in Budapest.
Irons conducts the conversation in Hungarian as well, announcing in the interview Merry Christmas greetings to all in Hungarian.

Macy’s has snagged English actor Max Irons to be the new face of its INC men’s collection.

Irons, who will play the leading male role of Jared in The Host, a film adaptation of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s science fiction novel, in 2013, will appear in the brand’s spring 2012 men’s campaign. It will be shot by Walter Chin and styled by Bill Mullen.
A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Irons is the son of Academy Award-winning actor Jeremy Irons, and the grandson of Cyril Cusack. In addition to still images, the INC campaign will include a short video of the actor discussing his personal style and self-expression.
Jeremy Irons Attends Juno and the Paycock Opening Night
Jeremy Irons was among VIP guests at the first night in the Abbey Theatre for a new production of Juno And The Paycock by Sean O’Casey, directed by Howard Davies and with a cast including Sinead Cusack and Ciaran Hinds. He was joined by Sean O’Casey’s daughter, Siobhan, and RTE personalities Pat Kenny and Joe Duffy, Richard Boyd Barrett, British ambassador Mr Julian King and President Mary McAleese.

Jeremy Irons part of Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde
A Jeremy Irons – The Authoritative Website exclusive! Marc Sinden, producer of The Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde, gives his firsthand account of working with Jeremy Irons on making the recording:
“We recorded his story in an audio suite at the BBC Borehamwood Studios. I directed the reading, as I had done for all of the stories included in the 4-CD box set of The Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde and Jeremy arrived on his enormous motorbike, in leathers, which worried me as I thought that he might ‘squeak’! He didn’t, however, and he was utterly professional and well-prepared, as usual, and we recorded the whole story in three takes. I was delighted that he had invented so many voices for all of the characters in the story and several of them made me laugh out loud! We then had lunch in the commissary and had a wander around the Eastenders permanent set before he roared off on his huge bike, while I waited for Joanna Lumley to arrive to record her story. He really is the most un-‘star like’ actor I know – a real actor – and a wonderfully loyal and sweet friend.”
